Fit every piece. Fill the board.

A pentomino puzzle on a wooden board, for iPhone, iPad and iPhone Duo. Each level hands you a rectangle and exactly the pieces that fill it: three for Penta 3, one more every level, up to all twelve for Penta 12.

30 levels free. No account, no tracking, and ads only when you choose to watch one.
Katamino game screen: Penta 10 half filled with the P, U, F, Y, Z and I pieces, and the V, L, T and N pieces waiting in the tray below.
How it plays

Five screens.
One puzzle at a time.

Every level asks the same question: can you cover the rectangle with exactly these pieces? These are the app's real screens, not mock-ups.

01 — Play

Drag, turn, flip.

Drag a piece from the tray onto the board and it snaps to the squares, with an outline showing where it will land. Tap it to give it a quarter turn; the flip button mirrors it.

  • Drag a piece off the board to take it back. Reset sends every piece home.
  • Drop a piece where it can't fit and it shakes, then slides back to the tray.
  • Every piece carries its letter, so colour is never the only clue.
02 — Choose

24 series, 240 levels.

Each series starts with three pieces on Penta 3 and adds one piece a level, all the way to Penta 12. The cards show each series' first pieces and how far you've got.

  • Series 1 to 3 are free to play in full: 30 levels.
  • One purchase unlocks all 24 series, for good.
  • Progress bars fill in each series' own colour.
03 — Solve

One more piece, every level.

Fill the last square and the pieces hop in a wave, your time comes up, and the next Penta is one tap away, with one more piece to fit.

  • Your time is kept for every level you solve.
  • Turn on the timer in Settings to see the clock while you play.
  • Solve Penta 12 to complete the series.
04 — Climb

From Penta 3 to Penta 12.

Inside a series, each level opens once the one before it is solved, and your best time sits next to every level you've cleared.

  • Solved, open or locked: every level's state at a glance.
  • Tap a locked level and the app tells you which one to solve first.
  • Replay any solved level to beat your time.
05 — Look back

Watch your board light up.

Settings shows all 240 levels as one wooden board, series across and Penta sizes down. Each square lights up in its Penta's colour once you've solved it.

  • Hints left, and your fastest time on the biggest Penta you've solved.
  • Best times for every Penta size, across all series.
  • Sound and timer switches, Restore Purchases, and a reset to start over.

Katamino home screen: a grid of series cards, each with its first three pieces, a progress bar and a count such as 8/10. The win card over the board: a star, “Penta 8 solved!”, a time of 1:23 and a button to Penta 9. Series 3: Penta 3 to Penta 10 ticked with their best times, Penta 11 open and Penta 12 locked. Settings: a wooden progress board with 50 of 240 squares lit, 12 hints left and a fastest time of 3:10, then the Sound and Show timer switches.

The details

Made with care,
all the way through.

The board, the pieces and everything around them, built to stay out of your way while you think.

Hints that teach

A hint shows where one piece goes on the board as it stands. If a piece you placed is in the way, it says which one; if only a fresh start will do, it says that too.

Three free hints a level

Every level comes with three. Run out and you can buy a pack of 10, or watch a short video for 5. Spare hints work in any level.

Every screen

iPhone, iPad and iPhone Duo, in portrait or landscape. The board turns to make the most of the space it has.

Your times

The best time on every level, the fastest for each Penta size, and an optional on-screen timer for when you want the pressure.

Day and night

Cream paper and pale wood in light mode, warm walnut in dark mode. Katamino follows your device.

Accessible

VoiceOver reads every piece and the board, Reduce Motion calms the animations, and the screens rearrange themselves for larger text sizes.

Sound and touch

A wooden click and a light tap each time a piece lands, a chime and a ripple of taps when you solve. Sound can be turned off in Settings.

Pay once

One in-app purchase unlocks all 24 series for good, and Family Sharing extends it to your family. No subscription.

Private by design

No account, nothing sent to our servers. Your progress stays on your device, and the only ads are the videos you choose to watch.

Big screens

Room to think.

On iPad and on an unfolded iPhone Duo, the series grid opens out and the board grows to fill the space.

Katamino on iPad: all 24 series cards in a grid of six columns.
iPad: all 24 series in one view
Katamino on an unfolded iPhone Duo: the Penta 10 board on the left, the pieces still to place on the right.

Before you ask

Straight answers.

What is a Penta?
A level. Penta 5 is a rectangle 5 squares tall and 5 long, filled with 5 pieces; Penta 10 is 5 by 10, with 10 pieces. Every piece is a pentomino, five squares joined edge to edge, so the pieces always cover exactly the rectangle's area. The puzzle is in the arrangement.
What's free, and what costs money?
Downloading is free, and series 1 to 3 (30 levels) are yours to play in full. A single in-app purchase unlocks the other 21 series for good. Extra hints are optional: a pack of 10, or 5 for watching a short video.
How do hints work?
Each level gives you three free hints. A hint looks at your board as it stands and shows where one piece fits in a solution. If a piece you placed makes the board impossible, the hint points to it instead; and if no single change can help, it suggests starting over. Hints you buy or earn work in any level.
Are there ads?
Only if you ask for one. When you're out of hints, you can choose to watch a short video for five more. There are no banners and no ads between levels. The videos come from Google AdMob, aren't personalised and are limited to content for all ages; the app never asks to track you.
Does it work on iPad and iPhone Duo?
Yes. Katamino runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 or later, in portrait and landscape, and adapts when an iPhone Duo is folded or unfolded.
Where is my progress saved?
On your device, and nowhere else: there's no account. Deleting the app erases your progress. Purchases belong to your Apple Account, so on a new device Restore Purchases brings back the full game, though your solved levels start fresh.
Which languages are supported?
English and French. The app follows your device's language.
Can my family use the unlock?
Yes. The full-game unlock supports Family Sharing, so everyone in your family group gets all 24 series.
